Electronic Data Interchange (EDI)
With Electronic Data Interchange, SDG&E can send billing information electronically to your business, and your business can make payments via electronic funds transfer directly from your bank or financial institution.
By automating the billing and payment cycle, EDI reduces processing costs and paperwork, provides more accurate invoice/payment records, and offers your business better energy management opportunities.

My Account
My Account gives you a quick, easy and paperless way to manage your SDG&E bills. Save time, postage and natural resources by receiving and paying your SDG&E bills online.
With this free service, you can also: view up to 25 months of account activity; set up automatic recurring payments or make individual payments each month; link, view and pay bills for multiple SDG&E accounts at the same time; and make payments from more than one bank account.
Automatic Pay
Automatic Pay allows your SDG&E bill to be paid automatically each month from your bank account, approximately 10 days after you are billed. You’ll save postage and time, and eliminate check writing, but still get paper bills.
If you’d rather receive monthly e-notifications instead of paper bills, then enroll in My Account and set up recurring payments (auto debit payments).
Pay-By-Phone
Our Pay-by-Phone option allows you to pay your SDG&E bill over the telephone when you authorize a deduction from your bank account. You control when the payment is made with one call from any touch-tone phone.
If you have 10 or more accounts with SDG&E, you may be able to have them all billed on one statement. If so, your monthly SDG&E bill would be mailed on the last meter-reading date for all your accounts.
If your accounts span many meter-reading dates, SDG&E may need to split the bill into two statements. To find out whether you qualify for this billing option, contact us today and provide a list of all your account numbers with your request for a billing analysis.
Everyone has different business and operating needs. Only you, the customer, can decide which gas and electric rates are best for your company’s operations.
SDG&E may be able to provide a business rate analysis that can help you compare your rate options, provided your business is on a time-of-use rate and has an interval data recorder (IDR) meter that tracks energy use for 15-minute intervals.
To see if your business qualifies for a rate analysis.
Please allow up to two weeks for your rate analysis to be processed and mailed to you.
If you have a small business with monthly electric demand under 20 kilowatts (kW), Schedule A is the default rate and the rate that will probably result in the lowest bills.
If your business has monthly electric demand of 20 kW or more, AL-TOU is the default rate. AL-TOU also is available as an option for businesses with demand under 20 kW.
Other Rate Options
Other rate options are available, and in some cases, may result in lower electric bills for your business.
Solar Or Wind Powered Generation
if you have a system that uses solar or wind power to generate electricity you can qualify for our Net Energy Metering Rate.
Generators With A Renewable Energy Source Or A Fuel Cell
The Distributed Generation-Renewable (DG-R) rate option is available if you have a generator with a renewable energy source or a fuel cell.
If You Can Avoid Using Electricity During Certain Peak-Use Periods
The A6-TOU rate option is available if your business can avoid using electricity during certain peak-use periods.

Critical Peak Pricing (CPP)
The Critical Peak Pricing program is the default electric commodity rate for businesses that have electric demand of 20 kW or more.
If you choose to have SDG&E buy natural gas for your business, your rate will be the GN-3 default tariff for “core” customers. Some customers choose to buy natural gas from other suppliers.
Your gas commodity rate depends on your choice of supplier and SDG&E’s transportation rate depends on your delivery pressure. Medium is the most common.
Yes, SDG&E offers a variety of time-of-use rates for electric service used in agricultural production. For assistance in determining the best rate for you call our Business Contact Center.
Demand charges apply to the average rate of electricity used by your business during the billing month. The average amount of electricity that your business uses per 15-minute interval is recorded on your time-of-use meter.
Your monthly demand is the 15-minute interval in which your average electricity consumption is greater than in any other 15-minute interval for the month.
The customer charge is the approximate cost of serving an account, whether or not energy is consumed during that billing period. It covers fixed costs of service, such as meter reading, bill preparation, and the related overhead costs.
Certain charges on your bill are subject to taxes and fees imposed by state and local governments, and approved by the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC). The CPUC also approves franchise fees collected by municipal and county governments for the energy that SDG&E sells in their jurisdictions.
Yes, SDG&E representatives can suggest ways for your business to save energy and money. For more information, call the Energy Information Center:
Yes, SDG&E’s Level Pay Plan evens out the highs and lows of your monthly energy bills so they’re more predictable.
Electric customers may select a meter-reading date or billing due date. Combined gas and electric accounts also qualify.
E-mail our Business Contact Center to request either one of these services.
SDG&E’s policy is to obtain a deposit from all applicants who have not established credit with SDG&E or who do not have a financial strength report with Dun & Bradstreet.
For a meter deposit request of $1,000 or more, surety bonds or an irrevocable letter of credit are options.
