Any customer interested in receiving Core Aggregation Transportation Service under SDG&E' Customer Choice Program should first contact a Gas Service Provider (GSP) and discuss your options. If you decide this service meets your needs and agree to proceed, the GSP will submit a gas direct access service request (DASR) to SDG&E to switch your account to the Customer Choice Program. The GSP will need your billing account, meter number and service address as they appear at the top of your SDG&E monthly bill. To prevent unauthorized submittal, the CPUC requires that the DASR be signed by you, the customer, or verified by an independent 3rd-party. SDG&E will notify you and your GSP of the enrollment date.
It depends on the service types offered by your GSP. The billing terms should be defined in the agreement with your supplier. You will continue to be responsible for payment of SDG&E transportation bills regardless of any payment arrangements made between you and your GSP. Customer Choice program participants have up to three billing options, they are:
The agreement with your GSP should outline any cancellation process and conditions. Any disagreements should then be worked out between you and your GSP. Initially, customers are committed to participate in the Customer Choice Program for one year. After the first year, customers can switch to a different GSP or return to SDG&E procurement services. If your GSP terminates service to customers, you will return to SDG&E procurement service.
Initial participation in the Customer Choice program is 12 months. After the initial term, customers may return to SDG&E for procurement service See Attachment D of form 142-1859 for Customer Termination of CAT Service.
Customer Choice customers may return to SDG&E's procurement service prior to the end of the initial 12-month period, with no interruption to their gas supply, if the GSP goes out of business, is otherwise unable to perform, or releases the customer back to SDG&E. However, the customer may be liable for unpaid charges incurred by the GSP on behalf of the customer under the Customer Choice program.
Customer Choice customers have up to 90 days from the termination effective date to switch to another GSP. After 90 days, if the customer has not chosen a new GSP, the customer must continue to receive gas procurement service from SDG&E for a total of 12 months before being eligible to return to service under the Customer Choice program.
These programs are approved by the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) and may be modified or terminated at any time. The CAT Program is subject to Tariff Rule No. 32 and other applicable tariffs and CPUC decisions that are in effect from time to time.
