Overview
Supporting Clean Energy

The award-winning Sustainable Communities Program advances and promotes the use of clean energy generation technologies within our service area.
Our program strategically integrates utility-owned generation systems, such as photovoltaics and advanced energy storage with sustainable building projects to provide energy to the grid. All these systems are maintained, and operated by SDG&E.
Benefits May Include
Points towards LEED® Certification
Lease payment from SDG&E
Marketing opportunities and educational value
Customer recognition for supporting green energy initiatives
SDG&E considers the following factors when evaluating program candidates:
Solar availability
System size
Ease of construction and maintenance of the system
Timing (year of project completion)
Occupancy, building type and system security
Opportunities to incorporate advanced energy storage and electric vehicle charging stations
Overall benefit to the electric distribution system
Location within SDG&E’s service area
Additional factors may affect the feasibility of a specific project and will be considered on a case-by-case basis
