SDG&E Pay-by-Phone allows you to pay your bill over the telephone by authorizing a deduction from your checking account. You control when the payment is made by simply calling 1-800-619-7343 from any touch-tone phone and then following the prompted instructions. It's quick and simple to use, and best of all, it's FREE.
To enroll now, complete the Online Enrollment Form. You only need your SDG&E account number and your checking account information.
If you prefer to register by mail, print the Mail-In Enrollment Form and attach a voided or canceled check, then return them to us. A confirmation letter will be mailed to you once you are enrolled. You will continue to receive your monthly bill, but will have the option to pay by mail or phone.
How does SDG&E Pay-by-Phone work?
After enrollment in SDG&E Pay-by-Phone, you’ll still continue to receive your itemized monthly SDG&E bill. On the day you’d like to pay your monthly bill, call our toll-free billing hotline at 1-800-619-SDGE (7343) to authorize a deduction from your checking account. You can even call on the bill due date. It’s that simple.
Who is eligible to be part of SDG&E Pay-by-Phone?
SDG&E Pay-by-Phone is open to all residential and business customers billed by SDG&E. A customer’s account must be in good standing without any existing payment arrangements and without more than one returned check within the last twelve-month period. Customers enrolled in Level Pay may also join SDG&E Pay-by-Phone.
How do I sign up for SDG&E Pay-by-Phone?
Complete the Online Enrollment Form, including the name of your bank/financial institution, and checking account number. Be sure to place a check mark in the SDG&E Pay-by-Phone box.
What does it cost me to be part of SDG&E Pay-by-Phone?
There is no charge from SDG&E to participate, however, some financial institutions may charge a fee for electronic fund transfers. Please check with your bank about any fees that may apply.
After I’m enrolled, how do I change information on my SDG&E Pay-by-Phone application?
Call SDG&E at 1-800-411-SDGE (7343) to obtain a change form and notify us of changes to your bank account information, address, etc. Inaccurate information may result in electronic payments being refused by your financial institution. SDG&E will not be responsible for losses, expenses, or other liabilities that result from inaccurate information or failure to provide us with timely notification of changes.
What happens in the event of a rejected payment request?
Payments in the form of account debit requests may be rejected by your financial institution because of insufficient funds, closed/unauthorized accounts or other reasons. Check with your financial institution for possible charges it may impose. If your payment is rejected, SDG&E will charge a $8.00 processing fee on your next bill. SDG&E reserves the right to terminate your participation in SDG&E Pay-by-Phone if your financial institution refuses to make electronic payment more than once within a twelve-month period.
How do I stop being a part of SDG&E Pay-by-Phone?
