Outage Map
Information listed here includes when an outage was reported, how many customers are potentially affected, what the approximate cause is and when we expect the outage to be restored.
Several of those numbers are estimates that may change as SDG&E gathers more information about a particular outage. For instance, as parts of a circuit are restored to service following an outage, the number of affected customers will probably decrease.
Refining the Estimate
Also, the estimated restoration is likely to be refined as SDG&E crews move to repair an outage. When an outage call comes into SDG&E, we try to determine if there is a visible cause (a downed power line, a transformer disruption, etc.). If we know the approximate cause, we assign an estimated restoration time based on our knowledge of how long it has typically taken us to repair similar problems.
Finding the Outage Cause
If we do not know the cause of the outage, which frequently is the case with underground power lines, we refrain from making an estimate until we know the approximate cause.
Navigation Tips
This map indicates unplanned neighborhood outages for SDG&E’s electric service regions. The legend shows general numbers of customers affected in a specific area.
