Benchmarking

Benchmarking Requirement

Beginning January 1, 2010, benchmarking with the EPA’s ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager is required for customers with eligible buildings in order to participate in SDG&E’s energy efficiency programs. We’ll help you determine if your building can be benchmarked.

To receive an SDG&E rebate or incentive, all customers whose buildings can be benchmarked must submit a benchmark score. If your building cannot be benchmarked, you can still receive a rebate or incentive.

Use ENERGY STAR® Portfolio Manager to Benchmark

Use ENERGY STAR® Portfolio Manager, an online service created by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), to benchmark your building by tracking your building’s energy performance and comparing it to similar buildings nationwide.

Portfolio Manager will rank your building’s energy performance on a scale of 1 to 100. A score of 75 means your building performs better than 75% of similar buildings nationwide.

How to Benchmark

If you are able to benchmark your facility, just follow three easy steps:

Step 1: Complete the Application Supplement

Step 2: Collect your building’s information using the appropriate Data Collection Worksheet.
