Cool Zones
Cool Zones offer a place for people with special needs to escape mid-day summer heat and reduce air conditioning use, saving on energy costs.
Cool Zones are established by the County of San Diego Aging and Independence Services (AIS) and are generally open to the public from July to September. They are located in senior centers and other public buildings.
Call 1-800-510-2020 and press “6” to find a Cool Zone nearest you.
Bus Passes
SDG&E works with AIS to offer bus passes to limited-income seniors and persons with disabilities who don’t have transportation to a Cool Zone site. Eligibility requirements must be met in order to receive a bus pass.
Get a Free Portable Fan
Limited-income seniors and customers with disabilities who don’t qualify for a bus pass may be eligible for a portable fan. Supplies are limited and restrictions apply, so please check with AIS for availability. You can call them at 1-800-510-2020 and press “6” or visit their website here.*
