Preparing for Fumigation

Under the regulations of the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC), General Order 112-E, only SDG&E or its certified contractors are authorized to operate the gas service shut-off valve. Fumigation contractors are not authorized to perform these services.

If you are fumigating, you or your fumigation contractor must contact SDG&E at 1-800-411-7343 at least two business days in advance and we will shut-off your gas service and turn it back on afterward at no charge. 

• Be sure to inform the Customer Service Representative that the gas service shut-off is for a tented fumigation job.
• Gas service turn-on orders are scheduled no sooner than the next day after the tent has been removed.
• You must provide us with a “Certification for Re-Entry" from your fumigation contractor that it is safe to re-enter the building.
• We will inspect and adjust all appliances for safety and efficiency as part of the turn-on service.
