Be Prepared for a Public Safety Power Shutoff
Energy companies sometimes turn off power to fire-prone areas during adverse weather events as a safety precaution. This is known as a Public Safety Power Shutoff. All Californians could be impacted by emergency events and need to be prepared with a plan and an emergency kit.
Below are some things to be aware of that relate to adverse weather events or power shutoffs.

- Your landlord is the account holder for your electric service;
- You are a caregiver or have loved ones in affected areas.
