Dear CARE Customer,

Congratulations!  Your application or renewal for enrollment in SDG&E’s California Alternate Rates for Energy (CARE) Program has been approved.  The CARE program provides qualified customers with savings of 30% or more.  The savings will be reflected on your next SDG&E bill.

Although we are not asking for proof of your eligibility at this time, you may be asked to provide this information in the future.  You must notify SDG&E if changes in your income status result in your ineligibility for the program.  When necessary, SDG&E will contact you to renew your program eligibility.

In addition to the CARE program, you may qualify for the following programs and services:

  • Medical Baseline:  People with certain medical needs can receive additional energy at the lowest rate.  For more information visit sdge.com/medicalbaseline or call 1-866-463-0070.
  • Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP):  For those who qualify, emergency bill assistance and weatherization services are available.  Call the California Department of Community Services and Development at 1-866-675-6623 or dial 2-1-1 for a referral to a local agency.  Visit sdge.com/LIHEAP for program information.
  • California Lifeline:  Telephone carriers provide discounted telephone access to customers meeting similar income guidelines as CARE.  This may not apply to wireless service, for more information please contact your local telephone service provider or visit californialifeline.com.
  • Energy Savings Assistance Program:  Offers no-cost home improvements and appliances.  To find out if you qualify, visit sdge.com/esap.
  • Arrearage Management Payment (AMP):  As a CARE customer, if you have an outstanding balance, you may be eligible for debt forgiveness through our AMP Plan.   Visit sdge.com/AMP to learn more.
