Earn Rewards for Saving Energy with
the Capacity Bidding Program
The Capacity Bidding Program provides businesses the opportunity to receive financial incentives for participation in a Demand Response event. Choose how much energy your business can commit to shift and help ease the strain on the electrical grid.
How It Works
When the grid is experiencing unusually high demand for electricity, electric supplies are low or a grid emergency is declared, participants of the Capacity Bidding program (CBP) will be called upon to reduce their energy usage.
CBP events can occur in the months of May through October. When your business enrolls in CBP, you determine how much energy your business can commit to reducing during an event.
Most businesses will work with a third-party aggregator to determine how much energy they can commit. If your business successfully meets your goal on an event day, you may be eligible to receive a financial reward. Your Aggregator will determine what your financial reward will be.
How to Sign Up
Most businesses can sign up for the Capacity Bidding Program through one of our third-party Demand Response aggregators. Businesses who self-aggregate can also work directly with SDG&E to manage their CBP participation.
