You can find the approximate location of major pipelines near you with the help of pipeline markers and online maps.

Pipeline markers such as the ones shown below indicate the general location, but not the depth or number of buried pipelines in the area. These markers display the pipeline operator’s name and a phone number to call in case of emergency.

Call 811 before you dig

Remember that these pipeline markers and maps should never be used as substitutes for contacting DigAlert at 811 or digalert.org at least two working days before you dig so you know where underground utility-owned lines, including gas pipelines, are located.
