The EV-TOU-5 plan is for customers to charge electric vehicles at home. Pricing is based on how much electricity you use and when, with three pricing periods. In exchange for a basic service fee, we offer our lowest rates for overnight EV charging at home. This plan could be a good fit if you can shift some of your electricity use away from the on-peak hours of 4-9 p.m. and you can regularly charge an electric vehicle during the super off-peak period late at night.
A monthly, basic service fee of $16 plus:

*Reduce Your Use (RYU) event days may be called when energy use and demand on the grid are high. The RYU Event Period Adder ($1.16) is an additional charge that will be billed to customers from 4 p.m. - 9 p.m. during an RYU event day. The RYU Event Period Adder is not applicable during non-RYU event days. On this plan it is important to make sure your contact information in My Energy Center is up to date by reviewing the information under your profile. We’ll send you alert notifications, so you know when to conserve if a Reduce Your Use event day is called. Up to 18 events can be called per year. If called, you’ll be asked to conserve energy between 4 p.m. and 9 p.m. when demand for energy and pricing is the highest. This plan is available for SDG&E delivery and generation customers.
Customers may participate in other utility demand response programs unless explicitly prohibited by the program tariff. Additionally, a customer cannot receive an incentive payment from a demand response program and pricing for the same energy conservation time-period.

Plan to plug in and shift to save. Special EV pricing applies to your car and your home. Programming your EV to charge during super off-peak hours (12-6 a.m. throughout the year) makes clean driving more affordable. And shifting some home energy use away from on-peak hours can add to the savings. It’s a win-win for EV drivers.

Designed for customers that own an electric vehicle, energy storage, and/or an electric heat pump for water heating or climate control. Take advantage of lower prices with a monthly service fee, which lowers the price you pay per unit of energy (kWh), on average, compared to other pricing plans without a monthly service fee. This pricing plan is most beneficial for customers that can program their EV charging, battery storage or electric heat pump to run during super off-peak times.

To enroll in an EV pricing plan, purchase or lease an EV and then decide whether you want to use a Level 1 charger or install a Level 2 charging station at your home. Once your home charger is ready, log in to My Energy Center to view and enroll in an EV pricing plan best suited for your household and lifestyle preferences.
While EV charging will raise your monthly electricity bill, this bill increase will typically cost less than the monthly cost to fuel a standard gasoline vehicle.
Your monthly bill’s total electric charges depend on the following factors: your monthly electricity usage, which pricing plan you’re enrolled in, and how often and what time you charge your EV every day. To maximize your savings, choose an EV pricing plan — which has lower charging costs during evening, night and morning hours. Then schedule your electricity use accordingly.
You can also use our Savings Calculator to view an estimate of your potential home charging costs with an EV compared to your current costs with a standard gasoline vehicle.
Depending on weather, the solar energy system’s efficiency, when the solar energy system was installed and other factors, electricity generated from a solar energy system could help offset the costs of EV charging.
View Net Energy Metering (NEM) or Solar Billing Plan (SBP) to learn more about solar energy generation.
